Would love it if we could do this. Street lighting is important for public safety, but if we could get that without so much light pollution, it would be awesome
Lots of folks captioning aurora photos like "for a few minutes we didn't think about politics"

guess I'm built different, every time I'm out trying to see night sky stuff I frequently think about how much light pollution is entirely preventable with just a tiny bit of regulation

Rather creating obstacles, Minneapolis officials should be doing everything they can to support a proposed urban farm and community center on the Roof Depot site, student Janya Dieringer writes.
Opinion: Plans for Mpls. Roof Depot site could spark real change

There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him.

Where’s the restroom? Minneapolis needs more answers
Businesses can’t take on the entire burden. The city must invest in a network of free, accessible and well-maintained public restrooms.

Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:

The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

“If it doesn’t rain in Tehran by late November, we’ll have to ration water. And if it still doesn’t rain, we’ll have to evacuate Tehran,” President Masoud Pezeshkian was cited as saying on Thursday by the SNN.ir semi-official news agency.

And likewise for our automobile transit. I'd argue that there is *no* mode of transportation (probably even walking) that doesn't rely on government funding to build and maintain (yes, the OP is about feds, but it is relevant to all levels of gov't)
So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

How's this for energy abundance? Millions of Aussies will start receiving three hours of free power each day in 2026. This is what happens when you make rooftop solar less than a buck a watt!!

"Rooftop solar installations cost about $840 (U.S.) per kilowatt of capacity before rebates." 🤯

Met Flo on the doors and proud to have her support.

When we opened the door, she said “I am a badass broad.”

She’s helped with campaigns since Hubert Humphrey’s run for mayor and knows we need leadership.

I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor.

Long thread 🧵

Frey has worked hard for developers, but the results haven’t trickled down to working families who rent.

New research from experts at the U shows that “over 80% of lower-income Minneapolis renters were cost-burdened in 2023.”

Over half of Minneapolis residents are renters and Frey is failing them.

I'm out for the count because of an injury, but this I can do. Can anyone else join me?
EMERGENCY REQUEST 🚨🗳️:

A side effect of having the best door knocking team in the city is that they go through materials like nobody’s business! We’re almost out of flyers, and we need to raise $2k so we can place an order first thing tomorrow morning. Please chip in and spread the word!
