The mass firings of federal workers will create service gaps that are unacceptable to most Americans. Musk, Trump, and the GOP will replace public services with lucrative contracts to their cronies in private industry. Those will likely cost more and be less effective than than the current system.
This is the only chance we have to stop near-complete privatization of the US government.
