A fun note for fellow fantasy authors: when it comes to natural dyes from flowers and insects, all cellulostic fibers like cotton, hemp, and ramie tend to take more muted tones. If you use the exact same dye on animal fibers like silk, the color turns out much more vibrant. BUT
