I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

As Marxists who engage the working class and try to help awaken their class consciousness, I think it's important to understand that deconstructing capitalism isn't just an intellectual thing, it's also emotional. And I feel like the emotional part of it is often neglected.

While Goodall received her PhD in the 1960s, it was not until the 2000s that Ugandan Emily Otali became the first African woman to complete a PhD on chimpanzee behavior. The networks that facilitated European and North Americans researchers impeded the same opportunities for Africans (9/10)

What the narrative leaves out is the contributions of the local Tanzanians who assisted and facilitated Goodall's early research, as well as preceding and concurrent research. Nat Geo created a story about a lone white woman alone with chimpanzees, erasing the Africans that were beside her (3/10)

White westerners think resistance is some disney or hollywood series. It is not. You either fight tooth and nail, or the occupation will murder you and your whole family! When white people resist occupation "by any means necessary", then it's okay. But when nonwhite people do it, they're "evil."

Douglas Schmidt, dean of CDSP, sees AI as a catalyst for cross-disciplinary collaboration and a tool to accelerate problem-solving by discovering correlations that may otherwise have gone unnoticed, enabling researchers to innovate faster than ever before. “By breaking down silos between departments and schools, we are creating opportunities to apply the technological power of AI to diverse domains, sparking new ideas, challenging assumptions, and integrating a wide range of perspectives,” stated Schmidt. The ChatGPT Edu pilot is one of several AI initiatives currently ongoing at William & Mary. W&M also launched a new minor in AI this fall for students to learn how to apply AI in their respective fields, with additional bachelor and graduate-level opportunities under development.

Cornell is cancelling a distinguished professor's classes on Gaza and suspending him because of the complaints of a student who previously served in Israel's military surveillance agency and was literally recording the comments of other students in class and deliberately derailing discussion.
Early last semester, Droubi said, students began approaching Cheyfitz with complaints that a graduate student in the “Gaza, Indigeneity, Resistance” class appeared to be recording them, possibly to “gather their names and comments” and intimidate them. “We believe that a student came to the course for the sole reason of surveilling and potentially harming students in the class,” Droubi said. “That ended up proving itself to be true because multiple students came forward and shared their concerns with Professor Cheyfitz.” Cheyfitz said one Palestinian student quit the class after telling him she felt upset and frightened. Current Issue Cover of October 2025 Issue October 2025 Issue According to Cheyfitz, the graduate student often steered conversations away from the assigned readings—which at that point mostly focused on definitions of genocide and international law on Indigenous rights—to defend Israel’s conduct in the war in Gaza and argue with others in the class. “He clearly had not done the readings,” Cheyfitz said. “It was disruptive.” Cheyfitz said he met with the graduate student in late January and spoke to him about concerns from his classmates. During the conversation, he asked the graduate student to drop the course, and by the next class, he did, Cheyfitz said. The graduate student, Oren Renard, a PhD candidate in computer science whose identity was confirmed by other students in the class, previously served in Israel’s elite military surveillance agency, Unit 8200, according to his LinkedIn profile.
