Person living in Winnipeg/Treaty 1 territory. Winsome combo of giddy farm girl, smartass former punkette, & intransigent pseudo-intellectual. Love the show, Steve. Hello to Jason Isaacs. New novel coming soonish. Interwebs: suesorensen.net
I've a headful of 60s and 70s TV theme tunes I'd like to give away to someone, no need to return.
George: "He's giant sized! Some surprise! You'll enjoy the time you spend in George's alpine home!"
Flipper: "They call him Flipper! Flipper! Faster than lightning! No one you see is smarter than he!"

sometimes I recall fondly my driver's test at age 16: when I was complimented on my hand over hand steering, I said, well, that's because I've been helping drive a combine this fall & I immediately (or so it seems) passed . . . & now I recognize that was probably the high point of my life

have now watched Aliens and the space travelers are still smoking

And now I know the context of the famous line "They mostly come out at night. Mostly."
finally found the courage to watch Alien (1979) and one of many shocking things was that they were SMOKING on that spaceship

“We are saddened by the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants." Could be a stronger statement. But evidence that they've at least opened the scriptures recently, unlike many who claim allegiance to Christ.

I just had coffee with a university colleague who said I'm the most rock n roll professor on campus, and I know the bar is low at a Mennonite university (haha there IS no bar) but I'm absurdly pleased anyhow

in movies, people are always taking items out of hot ovens with ordinary dish towels, and I'm like, how do you even have hands anymore

one of my personal favorite wheezes . . .
when closing a credit card account, make sure there's a very tiny credit so that the bank has to mail you a very miniscule cheque
Fun!

it's that time of year when I have to decide if I love anyone enough to give them an MCC goat or pig or whether they will settle for a chicken or duck

Pearson, Douglas, Diefenbaker. 1965. I could sorta draw them or tell you what their voices were like. Not because I'm so old. I was 3. But they were consequential.

I can't even name most of the major political leaders in Canada in the 90s or 00s.
On this day in 1965, the Liberals under Lester B. Pearson won 131 seats in the federal election. The PCs under John Diefenbaker won 97 seats and the NDP led by Tommy Douglas won 21 seats.

Isn’t this great?
Did not expect one of the best paragraphs I’d read about baseball would come from an Irish newspaper
