@alicesperi.bsky.social and I recently had the chance to delve into the ties of law enforcement to the January 6th insurrection through an investigation into the Fontana Police Department, where we heard rare testimony from former officers about their experience with racism: youtu.be/aIaQVFyStQk?...

At what point will the press corps, as a chorus, in unison, just shout back, “THATS NOT TRUE”!

What are we doing?

Anybody professing surprise at Trump's behavior with Mamdani doesn't understand Trump.

Nothing Trump said yesterday, nor anything he'll say tomorrow, carries any meaning for him.

He exists entirely in the present (as I explained in

I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

The fact that left-of-center folks see it as hypocrisy is itself a sign that they do not understand the contemporary right. From the basic Wilhoit-ian perspective of conservatism, there's no contradiction, no hypocrisy. Power *is* the principle.
When someone says one thing to gain power and then a contradictory thing when exercising that power, the most useful lens for understanding it is power, not hypocrisy.

Where is all the outrage for those of us who have been targeted for years? Where is the outrage for our families?

My own colleagues are silent.

one sign that the “unitary executive” is less the restoration of an older constitutional order and more the imposition of a radical new one is that allowing the president to act untethered from most legal or congressional limits has largely just served to plunge the country into disorder
