Yeah, the original Ghosts’n Goblins is very high up on my favorites list. Just embodies so much of what I value in games. Strong mix of routing with mean randomness to offset you, committal controls, all about positioning and movement, very snappy and immediate, well paced.

Don’t know if I’m just so unlucky to encounter this a lot but I completely despise the toxic positivity/tone policing shit that is so rampant in a lot of places now. Feels like it only gets pulled when an opinion is inconvenient to them and always done by the most passive aggressive vicious people.

I will never understand Suck To Target defense. It's a terrible mechanic even in Spikeout/God Hand where it only barely changes your direction, even THEN ambiguity can screw u over. The best you can say is that it's a necessary evil because manual aiming would be too precise

In GnG, if you look at any one part of the game, there’s often not more than 3-4 enemies at a time. But it feels like so much more because enemies are usually constantly spawning in, and from all sorts of angles, often throwing projectiles. Creates this very frenetic pace.
