When a dandelion sets seeds, its yellow flower turns into a nimbus of fluff. Pick a dandelion, make a wish, and give it a good puff — the seeds will scatter, carrying your wish with them. Dandelions also have many other properties within history, folklore, myth, and magic.

Legend says if the Tower of London’s ravens were ever to desert the stronghold the building would disintegrate into dust. Not only that, but the ominous departure of these mystical birds would herald the collapse of England’s monarchy and even the destruction of England itself.

Snail shells in ritual and spellwork is fairly common across magical traditions, as well as in the creation of charms, hex bags, and other curios. Shells are used in protective magic and in the creation of protective charms (like bags, bottles, and Witch’s Ladders).

Marie Laveau was a practitioner of Voodoo, healer, herbalist, and entrepreneur. If you want Laveau to grant a wish, draw three X's on her tomb, turn around three times, knock on the tomb, yell out your wish, and if granted, come back, circle the X, and leave Laveau an offering.

Tarot cards came to Europe from Egypt, but while they are certainly ancient and mysterious, it was only in the 18th century that they gained popularity as a form of divination. The most familiar version of the Tarot, the Rider-Waite deck, was designed by Pamela Colman-Smith in 1910.
