Today is my mom’s birthday. Sending appreciation for her existence because without her, there is no me. However, she is awful, and I am grateful that I no longer speak to her.

As Dr Nelson said "AI is not inevitable."

Please refuse the slop whenever you can. Save the environment. Hire a creative instead.

My English dept is moving to blue book essays written in class only. I am LOVING the switch. I have been able to have one on one conversations with students and check in on their writing and see them take my feedback and rely on their skills, not AI or tech.

I think we are in terrible times and have been, but I think that things are rapidly shifting into even more terrible times. Genuinely scared for the near future.

I made this peach bar recipe for book club, and they were a hit. Thought I would share.

The past three walks I've been on (all this week), I've seen the brightest red of cardinals that have fled the scene as soon as I've seen them. Super weird. Feels like a thing. Idk what that thing is, though.

I need 30 year old friends without kids, so we can go for drinks at the last minute. Or other adventures. I am bored.

If women submitting to men was a natural way of being, they would not have needed laws, religion & violence to get them to do it.

The people who build your houses, grow your food, and care for your family aren’t the problem. The ones hoarding billions while doing nothing to give back are.

A feature, not a bug.

There can be no ruling class without an underclass, after all. 😒

This! Making permanent haves and have nots. Think Hunger Games.
Turning every former Confederacy state and a few more midwestern ones to a permanent underclass and source of labor.

When I explain to people that I think our public school days are limited, this is what I mean. Loss of funding mixed with shortages will lead to more teachers burning out and fleeing the profession. This is working as intended, and this was the long game.
"We don’t make enough money to put up with this."

Last year, US K-12 schools opened short 55,000 teachers. Between book bans and political attacks on schools and educators, it's looking like this year's shortages will be even more dire, especially in red states.

American Teachers in Red States Are Walking Away for Good
The predictable consequences of the right wing’s war on public schools are being felt as educators leave their communities—and their profession.

It is wild to be back home after a year. There are so many things that I knew I missed, but there are so many others that are absolutely surprising to me. It is nice to be in a familiar place.

Aside from the whole “make poor people sicker” obvious bit, it’ll very likely:

- shutter hospitals, especially ones in rural areas and dense metros that serve the urban poor

- kick around a million vulnerable elders off of their insurance with no alternative
One of the essays I wrote for my qualifying exams literally 10 days ago was a deep dive into what would happen to American healthcare and health should the nightmare bill pass. Which it did last night.
