Feels surreal but here it is, my first published piece of research! Full of my favourite things - young people, education and adoption all under the umbrella of school belonging. Let me know what you think!

What a sorry state of affairs this is. Student’s enjoyment of school shared at DfE's RISE: Achieving and Thriving Conference. It takes me back to my own research and the incredulity of a fairly new student with us who said “it’s like they (the school) just want us to be happy.” #belonging

Great piece by Justine Smith highlighting the inequality for our young people who are care experienced. Young people who have not been in care are three times more likely to have passed their maths and English GCSE than those who have. Beech Lodge is committed to help children overcome adversity.

As a parent of a teen going through mocks this week this speaks straight to my heart. When will education (ie policymakers) sit up and notice?

Prison reform campaigner, Matthew Torbitt, explains why early Government intervention could prevent imprisonment and save money.

This can be particularly tricky at this time of year (speaking as a teacher and a parent) but worth holding on to.

How nice would that be! The place is absolutely key to how a young person feels about school and their internal sense of belonging. Let’s stop trying to fit young people into the same round hole. #schoolbelonging #place #community #fittinginvsbelonging #beechlodge
Can we shift the focus from the child and instead consider the environment?
