Half the internet seems to be down thanks to the us-aws-east-1 outage

Perplexity, Amazon .com, Signal all down (just 3 services I tried to use)

I posted a question on one of the Stack Exchange sites. A user answered my question, and I picked it as the best answer. This was about a decade ago.

A few days ago, the question was closed. The reason is that the quality of the question does not meet the guidelines.

Why now? It's just annoying 🫤

OK, I can skip the trial.

But the "start free trial" button at the top right stands out and is slightly annoying 😮

I have given up using iceberg tables.

ICEBERG_CANNOT_OPEN_SPLIT error has been thrown for about one week. The error message says that a file for 2024 is missing.

I don't get why I encounter this error in 2025, and it appears that there is no easy solution to this problem😮‍💨

We implement our own data quality checker with Athena's metadata. So the cost of AWS Glue is now minimal 💪

#AWS #DataEngineering #DataQuality
I am still looking for a data quality framework which can show the results of all test criteria regardless of the results (passed or failed).

In production, I use AWS DQ, because its setup is quite easy and it gives us the results of all test criteria. But it is very expensive 💸

- Do not play music or videos without the user's permission.

- It's ridiculous that there's no skip button. I am a subscriber and have lots of notes on Evernote that I want to access immediately!

> You’ll get a free one-month Pro trial with full functionality. After that, you can purchase a Pro subscription [...] or you can continue using just the core features

I don't like this approach because tons of unnecessary plugins are installed by default.

I'm researching what is happening in the tech jobs market.

If you're a hiring manager recruiting, or an experienced eng on the job market, would love to hear what you see. DMs open.

(Feels like a weird market. I suspect data on eg jobs doesn't reflect what's on the ground)

When it comes to static type checking, I usually use mypy. It checks code very well, but it is often slow, and its error messages can be annoying. So, as an alternative to mypy, I tried ty and pyrefly briefly.
