Proud public high school teacher in sweet home Alabama. STEM/Career & Technical Education is kind of my jam.

At any given moment, I am probably covered in sawdust or dressed in a ridiculous costume and acting a fool in front of a room full of teenagers.
Hey, #EduSky, #HigherEdSky, and anyone else who wants to chime in, What do you wish you had known about paying for college, student loans, etc before you started college?

Working on some college stuff for my ACT prep students after spring break. Finances are a big unknown for them.

Just read over a design proposal multiple times wondering why a student wants to fabricate a combustible desk organizer.

… y’all. He wants to make a **customizable** desk organizer.

I don’t think I’d mind a combustible one at this point, though. Spring break can’t come soon enough. 🫠

Making a giant breadboard so my classes can actually see how to put components together in real time Components are working replicas of the real things, including this giant button cell battery (it’s a case that holds the real one inside). I may or may not actually be insane. #EduSky

My 7th period class of 27 high school boys has just named themselves “The Roman Empire,” so that’s how my Tuesday is going. #EDUsky #BewareTheIdesOfMarch

No big deal, just watching our CNC machine mill custom-designed circuit boards for the holiday ornaments my second-year students are creating. It’s always exciting when I get to work my nerdy hobbies into instructional planning! #EduSky #stemeducation

How can we design an #accessible #learning resource as educators?

Recognising the challenge of navigating guidance like UDL & WCAG - we made this resource as a one-page guide!

A layout that one of my students made for their own light-up circuit board ornament. I’m checking their work for major errors like overlaps or clearance issues, and then their designs will be machined onto blank copper boards in our CNC mill. Can’t wait to see the results! #EduSky #STEMeducation

Proud moment: One of my freshman students reminded ME to put on appropriate PPE during an activity today. Even professionals slip up sometimes, but when you build a culture of safety in your lab environment, you have each other’s backs! #EduSky #STEMeducation #iteachstem

My project management style is “boy I hope my ADHD kicks in soon enough on this…”

Hasn’t failed me yet*

Okay, I’m officially sold. This is the first time I’ve used a social media app where I feel like I can scroll a little and set my phone down. Like, the algorithm doesn’t feel designed to keep me scrolling aimlessly with an ever-increasing sense of indignation. It’s a vibe.

Welp, I’ve officially moseyed on over from… the other place. I’m sure all five of my followers are waiting with bated breath for the groundbreaking content I’m about to unleash. Don’t all cheer at once, folks! 🙃🙃🙃 #HelloBluesky #FirstPost

Shout out to everyone who does things so far in advance that they forgot that they did and ended up doing it twice because they saved it in a different place the second time to the first time and it all just got a bit confusing.
