Malley, who took part in negotiations in the 1990s and early 2000s, said the U.S. peace team “was not that diverse in terms of understanding why a Palestinian may not react as enthusiastically to what some people call a ‘generous’ offer.”
He said decades of talks were shaped by a “major discrepancy of narratives”: “The Israelis believe that the original sin was Palestinian rejection of ’48. I have said this for awhile: the democratic party’s general unwillingness to allow healthy dissent on the issue of Palestine will allow the fascists to “get ahead” on the issue because the antisemitic groyper faction is tolerated in the party and allowed to dissent.
