Do people even work in the #Austenverse?

Every time I see someone asking for the name of the film in an Instagram post where you can perfectly see the title of the movie in the description—there, I lost a bit more of faith in humankind. #movies #socialmedia #zeitgeist

I think I'd buy more #books on #Instagram if those stores sold more than non-fiction and self-help books.

I have the idea of publishing a new novel on #Substack. I'm not sure if it's worth it, and currently, the only thing stopping me from acting on those wishes is how busy I am with my current project. #Writing #books #booksky

The "prompt novelists" are coming, and I don't see you guys prepared for it. #AI #AIStinks #Writers

Good Tuesday to you all. For me, this is the beginning of the week, as we had a public holiday here. Wishing you the best in your #writing efforts. #BookSky

BTW: I really enjoy receiving #books in the mail.

Good night, everyone. #off

Late thought: I've been wondering about how people read. I've been wondering if there's something I haven't understood about reading or readers. If their capacities surpass my own, and, because of that, I can't find my audience. #booksky #literature #writers

I started the week by doing some research for my new novel. I admit how much I don't like that task, but at the same time, it really gets me excited as new ideas are poured into my mind. #booksky #writing #independentauthors #books #research

Hello, fellow bskyers. I hope you have a nice week.

I think the term "prolific writer" was possible to apply back when social media didn't exist. It'd be lovely to be one prolific #writer, but I'm afraid social media, when you're an independent, unknown, or little-known writer, is inescapable. #booksky

Now that I'm here, would it be a good idea to publish my #novel as a serial, that is, by installments on #Substack? Back in 2006, I did it with one of my first works through a blog. #Booksky #publishing

I don't know, does anyone have any experience with that?

I'm back at reading spy fiction to cleanse my palate from strong-flavored material such as Pynchon and Austen; and I find Le Carré much more comprehensible, perhaps because I'm older, perhaps because I've improved my reading skills. #booksky #literature

100 billionaire families spent $2.6 billion in the 2024 election.

70% of these donations went to Republicans.

Now, Republicans in Congress are gearing up to slash essential programs to pay for another round of tax cuts predominantly for the rich.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

I'll create a Pinterest board full of ugly-ass book covers to shake the senses and educate readers about how much art quality must be in our list of demands. #projects #booksky

It is a constant source of merriment for me that, having so much free classic stuff for e-readers in the Gutenberg Project and similar sites, people still buy so much junk on Amazon. I mean, really? #booksky #books #junk

My plans of following Thomas Pynchon's example and being a writer with a private life have been dashed by how many agents expect their writers to have a "platform" on social media. Probably even dancing on TikTok or whatever. #booksky #writerslife

I'm not proud of the following, but I detest ugly, cheap book covers. I like buying books and keeping them. Having a shockingly awful tome in my library erodes any sense of reading or doing anything at all. (Those above are just examples; I've seen worse) #booksky #covers #literature

I've just completed the first 100 pages of my novel. Things are looking good, as I have kept the style and the tone I wanted since I devised the plot. #BookSky

My 1,500-word goal for today is complete. It's been a while since the last time I had a fulfilling day of work. It feels nice. #booksky

Although an outlet for many unknown authors, I think self-publishing services are nothing but businesses cashing in on the innocence of some people. #booksky

Also, against my principles of writing by compass rather than by map, I'm writing a treatment for my new novel. Why? I feel that with the previous one, the rewriting of the plot to correct mistakes could have taken less time if I had plotted the whole story first. #writing #booksky #novels
