So happy to live in Connecticut.
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has temporarily stayed the decision by the US Court of International Trade ruling that the Trump tariffs issued under IEEPA were invalid and could not be implemented.

We expected this appeal, and we are prepared for this appeal.

I can't wait to see the new grant proposal guidelines. I just hope none of these initiatives takes funding away from the garden of heroes. But maybe he doesn't need 250 doll heroes...maybe he just gets 2.
National Endowment for the Arts now ... tasked with "assist[ing] with disaster recovery"?
Really hard to say what the worst part of this NEA grant termination letter is (sent at 10pm on a Friday!) but I think it's finding out the federal government's priority for arts funds is now "fostering AI competency" rather than funding literature.

Hartford was wonderful yesterday. Beautiful Capitol, beautiful Connecticans on the Capitol lawn & on the steps of our Judicial Building & State Library across the street. A perfect New England Patriot's Day.

Thank you @chrislhayes.bsky.social for an important National History Day story at a critical time! This crucial program has been hit 2 ways: NEH cuts to the national program & cuts to state Humanities Councils, many of which support state History Days - like ours in CT. www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch...

There is so much good in these remarks. So much inspiration. I think it's worth a daily read.
If one of us stands up, they can pick that person off. If ten or a hundred or a thousand, they can pick those people off. And they're picking off people--immigrants, dissidents--to make an example of them. But if ten million people stand up, they cannot stop us all.
Millions Stood Up: April 5 Hands Off Day of Action
I was the closing speaker at the ebullient San Francisco Hands Off rally, and when I got home later I scoured the news for  reports on the more than one thousand other rallies. Of course people would ...

I am so proud to be in a state where our leaders project & protect our values.
The Constitution plainly forbids the President from commandeering state election officials to manipulate and micromanage how we vote. We sued last night to stop the order and to protect our democracy and our right to cast our ballots in free and fair elections.

Well said.
"If this many different judges in this many different courts appointed by this many different presidents are blocking this many policies promulgated by the same president, we ought to be able to agree that the problem is the policies—not the judges."

136. Setting the Record Straight on the Anti-Trump Injunctions
President Trump and his supporters are mounting increasingly noisy attacks on lower-court judges. But their claims combine shameless hypocrisy with shameful distortions of the facts.

Norwich has beautiful community spirit. This is heartbreaking.
'This type of vandalism is unacceptable': Norwich vandalized with swastikas Friday morning.
Four swastikas were spraypainted along Salem Turnpike. Here's how the Norwich police and the community has responded to them.

Every day ask: what can I do today? Then do it.
AOC: And he is running around because he thinks he got a bank account with a lot of zeros in it that it makes him some kind of super citizen. I don't think so.

Great takeaways - be informed - inform others - show up.
Packed house at @chrismurphyct.bsky.social & @richardblumenthal.bsky.social Town Hall. Takeaways: Keep informed and informing others, call out the lies, and protest each and every one of Trump’s illegal, discriminatory practices. #InThisTogether

Last night I heard Sarah Longwell say, "Public opinion is a kind of a guardrail." With those few words, she made me feel my own power and agency - and the power and agency of everyone I know. Informed, thoughtful opinion - made public - can move mountains.

One of history's best people.
CT #BHM: James W.C. Pennington was the first Black student to attend Yale, but denied the rights of other students. He was minister at the historic Talcott St. Church in Hartford.

He wrote the first history of Black Americans, officiated Frederick Douglass' wedding, and was a leading abolitionist.
