I lost my respect for President Clinton when he revealed himself as completely poll-driven, and his numerous peccadillos.
Obama became overly familiar with Big Bankers. Hillary’s smug entitlement made me hold my nose to vote for her.
Biden was a good president, though somewhat lacking in wisdom.

HCR’s kindly but serious scrutiny of Ken Burns and Sarah Botstein’s coming depiction of our Revolution softens when she agrees with their concept of ‘virtue’ as civic participation, of ‘doing democracy’.

Pundits take note: successful candidates call us to claim our civic power, not please us.
