The larger Pacific striped octopus is an undescribed octopus species that is unusually gregarious. While most octopus are solitary, they are known to form groups of up to 40 individuals.

While other species have to worry about being eaten by a mate, they mate in a beak-to-beak position.

A Larger Pacific striped octopus standing in a tank with two arms with its suckers visible. It is leaning on a plastic tube with two of its arms, and its striped mantle is drooping down, facing the camera. One arm is reaching back behind the mantle and is curled, making it look like the octopus is deep in thought.

Two larger Pacific striped octopus mating in a beak-to-beak "kissing" position. They are gripping each others faces, and the rest of their arms are curled away. The octopus on the left is lightly coloured, with a sandy beige colour, and the octopus on the right has a dark reddish brown colour. Where their stripes are, they have darker colours, a light brown and a dark red respectively.

A larger Pacific striped octopus in a tank, leaving a conch shell to grab a shrimp. The octopus is mostly a dark brown with a shade of red or purple, with some sandy brown spots and stripes, especially on the top of its head and mantle. Its mantle narrows at the tip. You can see two rows of suckers on its arms. The shrimp is translucent and yellow.
