There's a novel The Giver by Lois Lowry which has a utopian community that has NO KNOWLEDGE of the past except two members: The Receiver of Memories and The Giver of Memories.
Our protagonist is The Receiver but he's so disturbed by these memories, he risks everything to take the knowledge to all
Opinion from Victoria University: How can we make sense of the past – and the present – while the world is so volatile if knowledge of our history is destroyed?
Our history is on life support. Don't pull the plug.
