Movies, various nerd stuff.
Saw an early screening of #Hamnet today and I can't think of another movie adaptation that captured the book so well. The tone, the pace, everything was on point, but with smart changes to make it work soar as a movie. I really loved it.

Jurassic World: Rebirth is really fun. Great dinosaur action, some Spielberg winks, and just enough heart to make you not want to see the characters get chomped. It's as fine a sequel to Jurassic Park as you're ever going to get.

I feel like George Lucas would love Andor so much.

Well I'm gonna be broke as hell this summer because I'm buying all of these.

Kind of funny timing to premiere Last of Us Part 2 after a GOLF tournament

Daredevil: Born Again has mostly been Law & Order: MCU so far and I love it.

I've been rewatching the old Daredevil show and it's making me realize I should stop wishing new shows had more episodes. You could shave 3-4 episodes out of every season and it would be better for it.

I can feel nothing but absolute hate for the Monsters Inc ride because it's replacing Muppets and I have no personal interest whatsoever in Monsters Inc.
March 8, 2025 at 11:43 PM
It was smart to put the 2nd episode out on day 1 for Daredevil. A good episode but not a lot of action stuff happens. People would've been pissed waiting a week for that but it works as a compliment to the great first episode.

Everyone is talking about Fulham like they're some nobody team. They're 9th in the premiere league.

THE GORGE is if Stephen King, James Cameron, and Hideo Kojima all went on a bender and wrote an idea for a movie on a bar napkin together. So I loved it.

Really wrestling with wanting to see The Brutalist on the big screen and not wanting to sit in a theater for like half a day. Am I really losing a lot if I wait to watch it at home on a relatively nice big screen with decent sound?

My biggest 2024 issue is still that I just don't like Furiosa very much and I really, really want to.

Carry-On rules. Great little mid-budget Die Hard riff thriller with great performances. Lots of twists and turns. Love a competent meat and potatoes movie.

Trump would pardon his children even if he said he wouldn't. Literally anybody with the ability to do so would. He's the president for a few more weeks, let him do whatever he wants.

Can anybody recommend a good alternative for selling some of my furniture locally? I put it on Facebook Marketplace and have already had 10 people try to scam me in about 90 minutes.

Freshly updated, I anticipate Nosferatu and The Brutalist could be end of the year additions. Great year for movies!

GladIIator good! The little subversions of where you expect things to go really help it stand out. Great action, great performances. Denzel is amazing.

If you have one of those friends that's obsessed with Wicked they are going to be absolutely insufferable for a while because the movie is actually really good.
November 19, 2024 at 5:01 AM
I have to report that Wicked is very good and will make all the money. It does what it needs to to please the fans but is also very cinematic. A lot of elements work better on film than they do on stage. Gonna be a big hit.

Deleted the Twitter app. All the people I like are pretty much here now.

I feel like I should be reasonably up to date on what's going on, but the temptation to mute all political stuff on here is really strong.

My wild film opinion is I don't mind remakes. It's the same to me as going to the theater and seeing a new production of a play. The original didn't go anywhere, might as well let a new team have a crack at it.

The new Haunted Mansion isn't amazing, but it is an actual movie with a good cast, solid direction and effects, and a good script with emotional payoffs. I enjoyed it significantly more than expected. So I guess that's something given the current state of blockbuster IP films
