Trump Voters Got What They Wanted
Those who expect that Donald Trump will hurt others, and not them, are likely to be unpleasantly surprised.

“none as bad as Trump” — says Jeffrey Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein to Lawrence Summers (both of whom are very bad people):

“i have met some very bad people , none as bad as trump. not one decent cell in his body. so yes- dangerous”

“Rage farming” in a specific context. My theory is that anger is addictive. People experience a high (they feel powerful) due to the chemicals anger releases into the blood stream. And they want to experience it over and over again, like heroin or opioids.

Social media profits from the addiction.

So … Joe Biden’s refusal to resign and hand power over to a new generation is representative of the entire Democratic establishment. Biden did resign eventually, of course — after it was too late for the party to recover.
The Democratic establishment's ugly reaction to Zohran Mamdani reveals an unpleasant truth.

They would rather lose elections than change.

The addiction to rich donors and consultants is killing the party. But Mamdani shows a path out. An analysis.

“Flood the zone with shit” always was the playbook.
Trump’s “message”: I am a king and I douse you all in shit.

I say go ahead and amplify it.

“When they go low, we go high” isn’t always the correct strategy — but today it was exactly right.

#NoKings Austin tagging in.

Massive crowd at the Texas State Capitol despite Gov. Greg Abbott’s activation of the National Guard.

I suppose Trump can console himself with the thought that he inspired the biggest protest ever. #nokings

“The immediate capitulation came from the elites.” 🤬
I remember coming across a quote about the capitulation of the clergy in Nazi Germany: Hitler commented that they were too afraid of losing their “pathetic jobs” to stand against him. Sounds right.
the irony is that even though trump secured a plurality of the popular vote, the immediate capitulation came from the elites; the public had a much keener sense of what time it was right from the beginning
Yeah I do think the various attempts to will elite capitulation into being were briefly a successful bit of self-fulfilling prophesying but for various reasons are failing now - huge protests, university's rejecting the compact, the press refusing to go along with Hegseth's new pentagon policy, etc.

Lol
There’s a right wing protest happening about 200 yards away. It’s a bit more sparsely attended.

Courage is not the absence of fear but the willingness to carry on protesting anyway. 👊🏻
A lot of brave people struggle with fear, anxiety and terror. Brave people act in spite of and against these limitations. They seldom act out of fearless. 💚

Sure, but King Trump has absolute immunity thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court, so why would “minimum sentences” give him pause?
The mechanism through which Trump is paying the troops is the most blatant large Antideficiency Act (ADA) violation in US history. It's also clearly willful. No one has been charged under the ADA before, but violations carry a two-year jail term. The statute of limitations is five years.

Obviously the Swastika is the worst thing, but the map labeling Canada as "SOON TO BE OHIO" doesn't thrill me either
Holy shit. This is Angelo Elia, a legislative correspondent for Congressman Dave Taylor.

According to @rooster.info, during a Zoom meeting today, he had an American nazi flag displayed in the background.

100% agree. I know you have to be a legal nerd to care about dissenting opinions of the US Supreme Court, but historically dissents have contributed to the evolution of the law in democratic countries.
I'm a bit of a dissent apologist for this reason

I understand the kinda nihilist dunks on them as meaningless, but i've seen too many dissents become majority opinions to think they don't have value--as doctrinal roadmaps, as mobilizing tools, as records of the truth when the majority lies, etc.
If going forward we ever fulfill the actual promise of our Constitution, the dissents from this era of #SCOTUS are going to be very important and influential.

Reducing totalitaran delusions of grandeur to farce is always a good strategy. Laugh at the wannabes — their fragile egos can’t take it.
As a protest optics nerd love about the inflatables is how much they visually disrupt and pull focus from the fascist shock imagery Noem & Miller are trying to create.

So many of these photos now look like the world's silliest dance party, backgrounded by a bunch of guys in uniform looking awkward

When I was a little guy, Mom told me that chocolate milk came from brown cows. I was about 10 when I realized it wasn’t so. But in my defence … if you can’t believe your own Mom, who _can_ you believe?
Folks, get in here. We’re admitting all the dumb wrong shit we believed until we were way too old.
Fun fact: until I was appreciably into my 20s, I thought they were called oncologists because they were always “on call.”
