The largest meta study on the Housing First method found that housing a homeless individual or family reduces the societal cost per person per year from an average of $35,500 to $16,479. The study's authors concluded it costs 1.8 times as much to be cruel to the homeless than it does to be kind.
Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

“Walmart was the top employer of SNAP recipients in five states and one of the top four employers in the remaining four states. McDonald’s was among the top five employers of Medicaid enrollees in five of six states and SNAP recipients in eight of nine states.”

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

On network TV morning shows, I saw stories on demolition of East Wing of the White House, but nothing on Pentagon's press corps replaced w/more than 60 Trump supporting, MAGA-aligned outlets. My concern: This is a dry run for the White House Press Corps. https://loom.ly/4PS579o

Don't you dare think or say 'Well, that could never happen here' – it's happening.
Breaking: Text messages of Young Republican groups across the country have just been leaked.

They talk about putting Democrats in “gas chambers,” attacking “Jews,” calling Black people “watermelon people,” calling to “rape” their enemies, and bringing back slavery.

Here's an angle for ALL journalists: Never write the fake-word "antifa" again. Every reference to it in a legit news story should spell the phrase out fully: "anti-fascist." I'm pretty sure Strunk & White's "The Elements of Style" would've advised the same. And it's a LOT clearer to your readers.

“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
