I'm so sorry but when I say I don't have the resources to help with donations, I mean:

I haven't been paid in 2 months

I'm disabled on medical leave

I can't cognitively do the work of vetting asks because my brain is not working right now

PLEASE don't tag me or request money from me directly.

What an unserious person. I will never be able to unsee the people suffocating in their own bodies because the virus melted their lungs. Whole families showing up together at the brink of death. Myself & my colleagues putting on garbage bags & months-old N95 to resuscitate them in hospital driveways

Please stop saying ICE agents are “wearing masks”

They’re wearing face coverings. Gaitors.

The anti-mask rhetoric has caused untold harm to disabled people.

Mask bans have already been enacted in many places.

We must fight for our right to continue wearing medical masks & respirators.

Between Greta Thunberg and her fellow activists being kidnapped by Israel and Trump turning LA into his personal war zone, I hope people realise that protest, no matter how peaceful, will always be met with violence by dying empires.

NEW from me: A decision is imminent in three of the four cases that will determine whether individual health information for legal reproductive care remains protected by a 2024 federal rule under HIPAA, including a case in Texas before the same judge who tried to revoke FDA approval of mifepristone.
Will HIPAA protections continue for abortion care? Courts to soon decide.
Dr. Eve Espey has many stories she can tell about patients who travel to her clinic in New Mexico from their homes in Texas, where abortion laws are some of the most restrictive in the country. In one ...

An Australian journalist was shot with what’s been reported as a rubber bullet while covering immigration protests in LA.

Greta Thunberg knew that something like this would happen--that she and the rest of the team would be kidnapped by Israeli forces.

But she knew that her presence would increase global awareness of the genocide in Gaza.

That is courage. Brava.

I stopped using Meta social media

Apart from - annoyingly - Messenger and WhatsApp chats.

Step away from #Meta.

Meta is not your friend.

Meta also is knowingly complicit in the destruction of democracies, as shown by @carolecadwalla.bsky.social in #TheGreatHack

Disappointing to see Harvard Med School go even farther than Harvard College in capitulating to the administration by erasing their statement in support of health equity, renaming one of their diversity offices, and absorbing another into the Office of Student Affairs. Shameful.

look, I'm all for weeding but this is fucking unconscionable:

"Even worse: weeks previously, student assistants – part-time hires – had been asked to manually scratch the surfaces of hundreds of DVDs with penknives, rendering all of them inoperable."
Weeding discourse - yet another topic that never seems to die. 🤦‍♀️ Why can people not accept that librarians know how to do our jobs and don’t just chuck stuff away for shits and giggles?
Opinion: “A total library would be a bibliographic nightmare, like Borges’s Library of Babel. But neither is a library a fast-fashion store. You don’t discard last season’s items because nobody wanted them.”

Revenge porn is already a serious criminal offence everywhere in Canada, but it’s still extremely difficult to get images/video removed from platforms. This will help immensely to fix that.

I'm biased, but this report is a must-read for anyone looking to understand the state of AI in 2025.

It explains how AI is entrenching power for big tech and the oligarch class, speeding deregulation, dislodging human expertise and threatening workers—and how there's still time to refuse all that.
NEW REPORT: Artificial Power, our 2025 Landscape Report, is out.

Today’s AI isn’t just being used by us, it’s being used on us. We urgently need to reclaim public power over the future trajectory of AI. Another path is possible.
