Regency was my intro to set dancing and boy howdy, I don't regret having slid into Scottish Country instead and that's WITH the amount I complain about SCD transphobia. I miss some of regency, but not having to be _constantly_ on my guard
Anyway, if you wanna do Regency events and not be surrounded by terrible white people, Do Your Research. And no it being at a sci-fi convention or Bridgeton-inspired doesn’t mean it’ll be fine! And I haven’t even begun to talk to you about the transphobia situation!

I gotta say, I really love the younger generation's thing where they tag their sentences with tone, because it's super helpful to tell people "I'm gonna have surgery (good, exciting)" and short circuit some of the "oh no" immediate response

I was talking to a friend yesterday about grief and trauma, and how they haunt us. You don't need to remember when the worst thing that ever happened to you was: your body will do that for you, and just hit you with waves of grief out of what feels like nowhere.
