Instead of adopting #Medicaid expansion, Georgia partially expanded with onerous work reporting requirements, covering only 5.5K people instead of 300K under expansion. Work requirements are also bogging down processing of other applications. #healthpolicy

A work requirement for Medicaid would be a big deal.

Capping federal spending on Medicaid, converting it to a block grant to states, or eliminating enhanced federal payments for the ACA Medicaid expansion would be an even bigger deal.

So, yes, the US is indeed one of the least healthy places in the OECD.

But no, it's not primarily due to chronic disease. That's a problem everywhere and it's closely related to people getting on average older.

It's more about a lack of regulation on guns, cars, and issues with addiction.

Same question applies to any number of lawsuits that the Biden administration is currently engaged in on reproductive rights and Medicare drug price negotiation.

And if the Trump administration won't persist in those cases, when will other organizations have standing — and resources — to step in?
A big question, particularly with RFK Jr.'s nomination to be Secretary of HHS: Will the Trump Administration defend the ACA's requirement to provide preventive services, including vaccinations? It's currently being challenged in the courts.

With Republican control of the White House and Congress, there will be pressure for spending cuts to help pay for tax cuts.

Trump said Medicare and Social Security cuts are off the table, and defense cuts are unlikely. That leaves Medicaid and the ACA as targets.
