Scottish, cynical, attempts at pithy. Also photos of my regular wanders & local canal.
I am not a deep person. If I won the lottery I'm basically spending that money funding a romcom with Glen Powell in the lead, Jason Statham as a Dad and Jenna Ortega as the kickass.

Season of mists etc. aka why do I have to work for a living when I'd rather be on a tropical island?

If the world was run by women around about 50, shit would get sorted. But also there would be a half hour screaming/crying/ inappropriate laughing break in the workday

How lucky am I to live in a place where a local trims the useful, well used, unofficial path? Very.

I do not remember signing up to be the keeper of the household inventory. Obviously I know what we own and where it is. But not my actual job.

Just finished a book by @standupmaths.bsky.social . excellent, funny, worrying that he thinks structural engineers are brave, somehow. We mostly rely on 'feels' right, tbh

I'm trying so hard not to post about how my smart, good cook of a bideyin is so,so wrong about indian recipes. I'm clearly not succeeding tho

Feel like I'm having a barely contained panic attack, for no specific reason, so that's fun.

I have housework to do. But also I was gifted this book about 3 years ago and suddenly I feel guilty that I haven't read it.

I try every day to find something good in a newspaper. Today this seems actually potentially really good. www.theguardian.com/science/2025...

It's Mother's Day here in the UK. It seems that I'm at a place where I'm ok with that.

I will never stop being grateful that paying for plumber to come and fix my hot water is an annoyance, not a crisis or an extended period of sink washes. Not being skint changes EVERYTHING

A question, prompted by a thing I read: the worst thing you've ever done? Would it mean a break up, a criminal record, bankruptcy, family rift, court case?

Daylight even for the early train! Whoop whoop! Of course this means I could/ should walk instead.

Left for work after sunrise! Still face numbingly cold tho.

My daily challenge - other than actually facing the day - is to find something good in the media. Ideally an actual news site, but a great TV or food review? A cute cat pic here? That works. We need to find the small joys to face the 'waves around at everything else'

In this hell-in-a-handcart world, it brings me joy to know that both Bill and Ted (actors) turned out to be righteous Dudes.

Most useful thing I did today was take photos of colleagues. Decade ago evening classes paying off there! Learning stuff is good.

The man opposite me on the train just pulled out a plastic film canister full of coins to pay his fare, and did I wake up in the 90s?
