I had no idea that this phenomenon was actually codified. I'm not surprised, mind you, but I didn't realize there were actual plans in place.

I hadn’t thought of this. I thought, “Wonder what Obama is thinking,” but it never occurred to me that he needs to be SAYING what he’s thinking like yesterday. Fuck tradition.
Tradition dictates that former presidents and retired officials don't say anything about the new administration. That feels really negligent right now considering the oaths they took. I understand to a degree why current ones are struggling because their constituents are at risk of reprisals.
