Good analysis. Taliban brought security to the Afghan people - one of the tenets of their legitimacy claim
William Byrd analyzes how the Taliban regime has consolidated power in Afghanistan since 2021, the threats it faces to its control, and how the regime could promote its resilience and longevity.
Where Is the Taliban Regime Three Years In?
It is in a relatively strong position, facing just a few potentially serious threats.

How Iranian Azerbaijan Almost Became a "New Territory" of the USSR: Excerpt from Mikhail Krutikhin's book Iranian Agents of the Kremlin

I read recently an article which claims that Trumpism is metapopulist. Basically it makes "the people" inclusive (there are good immigrants) and exclusive (there are bad immigrants) at the same time. So it's not authoritarian in a strict sense. I think that play makes Trumpism strong and appealing
This ideology of “real Americanism” is crucial: It provides the foundation for the Right’s anti-democratic radicalization, forms the basis of its normalization in mainstream political discourse, and helps explain why the response to the authoritarian threat has been lacking.

Another reason to hate Stalinism. All her life she was fighting against nationalists and then she was detained as a nationalist just like many other bright communists (some of them were national - but never nationalist) who simply didn't like Stalinism that much
