Here's our new Number Pad notation symbol set! We decided to go with a pronounced/subdued literal map translation of the #fgc Number Pad Notation system to help newer players pick it up faster through raw context. Otherwise stay tuned for our awesome short hand Number Pad symbols for YOUR combos!

Not every user will use it, but one of our favorite features we've worked on in the past week was definitely the Joystick notation "ball" color customization feature!

It's one of those features that's there for little smile moments, esp if you like to use joystick notation by default! 😍

Pretty proud of how this project has all started to fall into place.

It's been a journey. All of it started from a simple question:

Easier said than done. Seriously. But you know what? I think this DEFINITELY has a shot. 🤞

Turns out even with zero ads, when tooling + data are built around a sole consumer product type, that alone creates organic moments way better than the ads we all ignore today.

Ooooo! Hay so a question for the network:

So far we've got 1 game that has 2 rendering styles! The game is Ultra Street Fighter II (exclusive for Switch). It has 2 art modes to play via settings.

Are there any other fighting games with 2 art modes off the top of anyone's head?

We realized about a week ago... that we hadn't really accounted for the art style used in any given fighting game. So after a couple iterations, we ended up with a new grouping lens, the Rendering Style!

We're still assigning games, so this is a WiP.

In the meantime though, did we miss any?

It was really satisfying to finally implement this sorting feature. This app has super deep data and relationships, so filtering alone was a poor browsing experience.

Now I have to ripple this through to all the other models in the app. Going to need more coffee.
We already shared a bit about the archetypes aspect of the app, but we've recently added in a sorting UI that works in conjunction with the filter to help manage lots of page items quicker.

We also redesigned our content cards, and are psyched about the clean vibe and better text <> bg contrast.

A weird little discovery in a current project, is this dance between data points being just data values, one <> many, or many <> many relationships.

The discovery is how intrinsic hierarchical design decisions are to data evolving along those variations of complexity into many to many's. It's neat.

This one is kinda cool because I'm surprised how easy it was to convert a SPA tool from handling just a tier list of games to alternatively a tier list of a game's fighters in the same UI - with minimal duplication 1st try.

Haven't refactored this yet, but still, huge props to @vuejs.org 😍🤓🤌
Got a prototype of the tier list tool working with fighters of games. So now as we add more and more fighters for games they'll just show up in the tool as we go!

This tool is complex under the hood. I need to refactor it, & then figure out how to implement other types of tier lists - all/only for fighting games!

It’s tricky to balance moving forward data entry work + app interactive work.

But - when the data is finally done these tools become bananas 🤯🤯🤯
This is NOT fully sorted (but some care was added to the top tier just so it isn't alphabetical), so this is more an example of concept.

Nevertheless, here's a capture of our upcoming fighting game specific tier list tool's output:

This is a peek at the result of a tag fighting game match's data using our first of it's kind match records tool. In the start1up.com app, each player account can control which peers can access which records - making things ideal for pros, coaches, and orgs, too!
