21st century intelligent people are like yeah let me eat that cake big dog! Give me more cake!

Do political science profs have to explain to their students that, for most of American history, it was actually borderline unthinkable that elected officials and their spokespersons would constantly talk like trashy reality show contestants?

They’re so close to claiming he’s the second coming lol.

Cool with me at this point. I’ll be headed to heaven or Hell but complete opposite of those people and I’m ok with that.

An interesting tidbit in the joint status report filed in the Broadview ICE facility case today:

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.

You really gotta follow up on an underspecified claim like “we found 186k dead people.”

People die every day, and the government is always going to be some amount behind in working out the administrative consequences, but that doesn’t mean the deceased’s EBT accounts were somehow used for fraud.
Brooke Rollins: "SNAP is a broken program. SNAP is full of corruption. We found 186,000 dead people."

I really like Bernie Sanders’ elder statesman era.

Unlike too many older politicians who cling to power and perpetuate an outdated political culture, Bernie is actively mentoring the next generation of progressive leaders before he retires.

It’s how it should be.
And it’s working.

The sheer number of people Trump pardoned — 1,500+ — and the magnitude of violence many (most?) of them committed means it is statistically likely that a fair number will be revidivists, potentially for more egregious crimes. The pardons should be a top story EVERY DAY
Welcome to “justice” in Donald Trump’s America.

This is absolutely the case. Tech Guys of previous generations, to the extent that that category can be read back into the 19th and 20th centuries, were shockingly well-read by modern standards
it’s also notable how the techbros of today really don’t read *books* anymore - this was really not the case for the Tech Guys of earlier generations, far as I’ve been able to tell

The thing to understand about this is that this catastrophe in the UK has redounded to the political benefit of the very same people and political movement that pushed for it! Extremely perverse.
I wonder if the United States can learn anything from the last time a major industrialized country decided to isolate itself from the rest of the world?

Almost a decade after the Brexit vote, GDP in the UK is around 6-8% lower relative to peer countries. (Source: www.nber.org/papers/w34459)

On one hand. Keep up the two party system. On the other….. flood independents who will represent their constituents and not a party. Idk man. Think we’ve progressed societally past this.
Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

We all know what this is. He’s coming after states now. Soft blow to consume power. Why are we acting stupid?

Why are we pretending they haven’t fully taken over the government do not not intend to give it back.

We’re here. One party rule.
Everyone’s like “so what do these pardons DO??” and honestly I’d say it probably has more to do with this than anything substantive, at least for now

It’s a communicative pardon
Notably, this pardon comes just days ahead of a Nov. 14 deadline for the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia to appoint a replacement prosecutor for Fani Willis, who was disqualified from pursuing the case.
