It absolutely matters here that Pritzker was effective at sounding the alarm and plainly stating this would be unconstitutional in a profoundly radical and fundamental way, and showing he could rally practical popular opposition, which then gets spun as backing out over "legal headaches."

The real problem is that capitalism has created such deep inequalities that it requires ever-escalating brute force to impose them on people.
Until we achieve real social change, we are only going to see more violence. Legitimizing capitalism means justifying murder.

These are the kind of stories that used to end political careers. Now the subjects of the stories just hold up a middle finger and keep plowing ahead.
