Blockbuster story in the @nydailynews.com this weekend. It illustrates many of the reasons we at New Kings Democrats have been fighting for a better Brooklyn Democratic Party and why that fight matters.

It’s about Frank Seddio. But it’s about a lot more than him too.

Again, I cannot stress enough how much of NYC politics (but especially Brooklyn) is just the same 7 or 8 people committing comically inept types of grift while going after things like "bike lanes," all while the city becomes increasingly unaffordable.

The🧵 by NKD provides some much-needed context.

Andrew Cuomo's reputation for COVID leadership was built on a series of lies.

New Yorkers should remember the truth when they head to the polls 👇

This feels like a good time to introduce ourselves. 👋

I’d like to ask every single New Yorker who’s remotely left of center to get actively involved in your local Democratic Party chapter with the goal of driving Schumer, Gillibrand, Hochul, Adams, Cuomo and all the other dead wood into retirement.

Gov. Cuomo treated New York City like a punching bag. Why would we want him as mayor?

Don’t let amnesia win.
Democrats say no to Cuomo!

We are proud to join a coalition of nearly 200 Democratic leaders—state and city legislators, District Leaders, County Committee members, and Democratic clubs—in urging our party leaders to oppose Cuomo’s self-centered bid for rehabilitation.

On June 24, New Yorkers will decide primary races for mayor, comptroller, public advocate, and city council.

If you are registered as an independent or with a third party, you are effectively disenfranchised from this part of the democratic process.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

We are done asking.

Our leadership is not failing us—it has failed us. We can no longer offer prolonged support without immediate action to protect our community from serious harm. Our leaders need to feel our anger. 🧵

If you are ready to feel powerful, I have the meetings for you. It is hard work, and slow. But you get to be with your neighbors and your community, and there are snacks. (If you bring them.)
People are hungry to do something that isn't doomscrolling or texting money to dems, they just need an invite, a plug, an on-ramp. It needn't be (and won't be) an epic battle. It'll be a grind-- meetings. But you'll have more power in that room than you did separately, and you'll feel better too.

one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.
