Time for a 🧵. Many of you have heard me complain that Alexandria City is hostile to bikers and has made no effort to create safe bike routes between any points of interest in the city. This case study looks at Mount Vernon Rec Center to Charles Houston Rec Center (1.5 mi.). Here's the Google route.

This loss is on Murray. He had a clear path to the basket and instead hid in the corner. Cutting off his route is as brain-dead a decision as Shedrick failing to come back to the ball against Furman in 2023.

Since the Supreme Court did not note the absence of a federal privacy bill that might curb the ability of foreign adversaries to snoop on Americans--either through apps or by buying it from data brokers--I made a point of reminding PCMag readers of that angle to the TikTok story.

Your occasional reminder that Amtrak is not currently viable for day trips with any kind of schedule. Hopefully we will reach the point where we can take VRE and won't be stuck rolling the dice with NEC trains.
On the plus side, paying the 10% premium for a fully refundable ticket paid off.
