If Sens. Hickenlooper and Bennet aren't calling for a change in Senate leadership, their no votes are hollow showmanship.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

The 8 Dems who voted against ACA are embracing eugenics.

This decision will disproportionately harm disabled people.

Many Disabled people have pre existing conditions & won’t be able to afford insurance.

Many live in legislated poverty.

Guess we aren’t dying fast enough for them

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

Yo - so unfortunately in this climate trad publishing doesn’t want us! If we write a Daily Tism book & start our own little publisher to put it out, say in time for next Christmas, who’d buy and read the living shit out of it?

Downloaded music from Napster will Metallica sue me
Boomers have "walking uphill to school" and GenX-ers have "drinking from the hose." What do we Millennials have? The obvious answer seems to be "waiting 20 minutes to download a picture of Jeri Ryan in a bikini" but there is also the wildcard: "washing our hands with dishwashing liquid."

Thoughts?

And then they will be blamed and shamed for being unemployed

What they *won’t* be disabled enough to get is Social Security. They will be told that their jobs make them ineligible because clearly they can work.

But not well enough to keep their jobs. 🔄

It’s relevant to note that @npr.org gets funding from (airs commercials for) Autism Speaks despite the Autistic Community *repeated* complaints for *years* so NPR has a well established history of platforming Non-Autistic (Allistic) voices over Autistic ppl regarding Autism
@npr.org for every minute spent talking to a non-autistic person about autistic people's needs, you should be giving at least 2x that amount to actually autistic people— & not just in written stories, but on-air.

Apply said rubric to any other group under attack right now for their lived realities.

I can't speak to that. I don't have a great solution.

I do know that eugenicists making lists of people who exist in the wrong ways is a DEFCON-1 kind of situation.

Trans people, Queer people, Autistic people, Disabled people - we're all fighting what is ultimately the same ideological attack.

It's striking and discouraging how many posts about the diversity of targets the fash have consistently neglect to mention disabled people.

RFK wants to send us to labor camps, Denise. There's been a torture camp for autistic people in America since the 70s.

In this case, that's because in my view, the fight is on the other side: bsky.app/profile/chan...
Folks in countries with infrastructure to support disabled people -- yes Canada and Europe that includes you -- must lobby your governments to end these eugenicist immigration policies. I've seen the impact they have on families in real time, and it's fucking terrible.
🧵

Note: I'm not mad about people leaving.

Just wish that as a disabled crippled fuck that I had that option myself.

Nobody wants people like me, including my own country. 🤷‍♂️

Not trying to dig on OP, but I can't help but notice that disabled people are rarely included in these kinds of discussions. Maybe because most countries won't accept us. We are well and truly stuck here.
Anyone who is in scientific collaboration spaces with me knows that one of the first messages I put out to people in positions of leadership in them is that they need to start thinking about how to facilitate the quick exit of trans and queer scientists in our collaborations.
