This year, I came across my grandfather’s memorial for the first time. I was struck that he is immortalised as ‘Gunner’ E W Clark and yet he was a gunner for about a year before his untimely death. He would have considered himself a printer, which was his profession.

Took a look around USS Cassin Young in Boston. The destroyer saw WWII action in the Pacific theatre where it was hit by enemy shells. A fascinating trip and free to visit
