We built the openESM database:
▶️60 openly available experience sampling datasets (16K+ participants, 740K+ obs.) in one place
▶️Harmonized (meta-)data, fully open-source software

New paper led by @drlynam.bsky.social on the need for more training in and engagement with open science practices in clinical psych programs. It has been difficult to make progress due to a variety of barriers, including students working in labs uninterested or hostile to these approaches.

Understanding Autistic Traits with the CATI Our new study confirms the CATI is a reliable, inclusive tool to explore Autistic traits! What is the CATI? The Comprehensive Autistic Trait Inventory (CATI) is a 42-item questionnaire designed with Autistic input. It explores six key trait areas — like sensory sensitivity, masking, and self-regulatory behaviours (all traits named or endorsed by an Autistic focus group) What did we do? We tested the CATI with over 2,600 adults. Half were Autistic (diagnosed and self-identifying) and half non-Autistic people to check ensure it is a valid and reliable measure of autistic traits for both autistic and non-autistic adults. Autistic-led and community-shaped This is an Autistic co-led paper, that was steered by the community which included a review of the original CATI trait names and question wording. A colleague is investigating how autistic adults experience communication during CBT for her PhD research.

We would really like to hear from you if you are an autistic adult who is receiving CBT or has received CBT in the last six months. We would like your views on how autistic adults’ experience communication during CBT. We know that many autistic people access CBT.  We also know that autistic people can struggle with communication, especially during challenging times, such as a mental health setback. We would like to know how communication was for you during your experience of CBT. We hope our research will help healthcare professionals support communication with autistic people more effectively.If you choose to take part, I will talk to you about how you found communication in CBT. The questions will be emailed to you in advance, and you do not need to answer any questions that you do not feel comfortable with. The interview can be an online meeting, in person, or by email (whatever is your preference).  The interview should take no longer than 90 minutes.
