So here's the wee intro bit: I live in Edinburgh and potter about with my kid. Used to do comedy (not very well but had a lovely time), used to write a lot more (and trying to do it again) and host stuff (particularly love kids events). Leftie, likes talking to dogs, quite pleasant, often tired.
Thoughts and prayers to the journalists having to read 100 press releases today with 'skibidi' awkwardly shoved in by someone who made their Gen Alpha son use it in a sentence this morning.

Found this incredibly 90s artifact in my parents' house - a tape of Ash's 1977 a bit stuck to a mix of Levellers songs. The nostalgia is so high I swear the cases smell of incense and cord flares.

Yes absolutely that's the crime we should be worried about. Real harm being done by *checks notes* people calling out genocide.

No but why is this the kinkiest thing I've ever seen?

I've slept on it and still strongly feel that Iceland were done real dirty. Loved those wee shiny guys.

Also whoever it was voted for Israel needs a real word with themselves, FFS.

This is one of my favourite podcasts...two very funny silly people who clearly love films to absolute nerd levels. Lovely stuff.
Really funny new episode.
If you haven't listened to the show yet give it a go.

Just got a spam email which used the name of someone who died years ago and I did not like that one tiny bit.

The year is 2035. China announces tariffs of 3,000,000% on US goods. President Trump rises from the cryogenic throne which keeps him frozen to announce he will kill the moon. Musk announces his 49th child's mother is Mars. Everyone remains very tired.

New music from Garbage AND Pulp? I'm so happy that 15 year old me got the job of Head of All Music that she always wanted ☺️

I've been thinking a lot in recent months about what I'd like to do next in life to make myself happy and, after hosting a couple of events for the first time in ages, have discovered the answer is 'be applauded at constantly'. Don't mind if it's just out of politeness. Just need them claps.

This is really sad news. I went to a couple of his events for young people, and seeing what an impact he could have over an hour in an auditorium was incredible

The writer, who found success with young adult novels, inspired one of Steve McQueen’s Small Axe films which was based on the author’s childhood

I'm stuck getting over flu, so child is with his Dad and helpfully sent this important survey over to cheer me up. I'm nervous I voted wrong but there was very little analysis available

This is a beautiful and useful thread from @felicityhannah.bsky.social about a tricky, sad subject.
I want to post some thoughts for anyone Christmassing with older relatives who notices things being a bit odd this year. It’s a common time to recognise some dementia symptoms in someone you love, because we all get together for several days instead of just a few hours

I love this time of year when I wonder if I should make doing jigsaws my career.

I was thinking about the most fun songs from my teen years that I thought child would enjoy. KITTY! I thought. By PRESIDENTS OF USA! A charming funny song with miaows in it that you can join in with!

I may have absolutely forgotten that there's a whole bit which just goes FUCK YOU KITTY.

This is Tracey the Horse. She lives on the York carousel and we've visited her every year since Thane was two and decided Tracey was the most lovely name he'd ever heard. (He would later go on to keep naming things Brenda, which he also thought was very pretty)
