In two different conversations about downsizing before going overseas my parents brought up selling my ERG and it felt like being physically stabbed. A secondhand purchase in the low hundreds? With an active repair community that will work forever? That's the closest I'm getting to buying a house!!!

we need a new "popeyes chicken sandwich" for everyone to flip out about. it doesn't need to be made by popeye's but it needs a similar huge cultural moment attached to it. i think a chicken fried steak sandwich could do it but perhaps the next sandwich to capture the zeitgeist is unknowable
