I say it over and over again: when you have that much money, you want to live where you want to live and you are simply not going to relocate because of marginal tax rates

Alan Dershowitz will never leave Martha’s Vineyard and they won’t even sell him a pierogi
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

the thing that strikes me about this — again, besides it being false — is the venom and disrespect for the people who come here to work and build better lives. they aren’t “servants.”
JD Vance: "Democrats' idea was the way you get more prosperity is that you import more and more low wage servants."

The mythology of Russia having the second most powerful military in the world was crushed when Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It alerted Xi to the fact that he too has a house of cards. Dictatorships are so corrupt that even the dictator gets fooled by their own propaganda.

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt commuted the sentence to life in prison at 9:59

good thread.

rental rates are about 1/3 of the population. that's a lot of people! (and of course concentrated among young/lower income people)
So before I mute this guy allow me to point out this is completely dumb shit.

I have been to 44 states. People are worried about rent all over the country. This is happening in cities big and small.

Those trying to buy are also worried about costs.
This is real urban liberal brain. Rent is very high in liberal cities but the vast majority of all American voters have fixed rated of mortgages or own outright. With renting even less common in swing states.

Attacking a federal district judge as an “activist” for issuing a lawful ruling is an assault on judicial independence. A democracy cannot function when executive agencies denigrate judges for doing their jobs.

The changes could put 170,000 formerly homeless people at risk of losing their housing — many of whom are disabled or over 50.

There's no problem Vance won't blame on immigrants, even if he has to invent the problem himself.

A few weeks ago he was insisting immigrants lived in cramped squalor and their (white) neighbors had a right to be upset about that.

Now they're so rich they're snatching up all the good houses? OK.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.
