Received my UK public lending right statement (writers receive a payment every time their books are borrowed from the library).

Thanks so much to UK library users for your support for my writing 🙏

Libraries are so important to the fabric of our reading culture – let's keep supporting them.

Hey.

Time on social media will not meaningfully increase your capacity to help combat the horrors.

If all it's doing for you is making you feel the horrors more deeply and constantly, please know that you are under no obligation to do that to yourself.

How are people coping with working 5 days when they have tiny humans? How are you squeezing more of their joy into your life? Should I work at night while they sleep??

I very much enjoyed being invited on the @shushradio.bsky.social radio show (link to recording below) and being able to pick my own songs (great fun, but difficult choices had to be made!) and also having a great chat about libraries (they give us power you know), food science and much more.
Latest Takeover show is now available
@akellyucc.bsky.social Head of Food & Nutritional Sciences. and Co-Director of UCC Futures in Food, Microbiome & Health joined me and we talked @ucclibrary.bsky.social , libraries, research, music & cheese and played some great tunes.

Really enjoyed the ‘Words on Waves’ exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland, with truly spectacular early Irish manuscripts loaned from the monastery of St Gall in Switzerland, paired with related artefacts from the NMI’s collection. Mobile art and ideas taking literal form! Unmissable.

Couldn't possibly be true, aren't they leaving the market in droves?!

Absolute LOLZ. Every house I've been outbid on thus far (bar one) has been bought by either a builder or a landlord. I've worked all my life, and will still likely never be able to afford a home of my own.
