Just realised we wrapped on #Hamlet this time last year. Was chasing that project for 6 years. Was a dream come true for me to meet and work on a Riz Ahmed film. A year on, that shoot is still a highlight of my career. Not sure what awaits in 2025 but would hope to work with Riz again insh’Allah🤲🏾
I’m not sure how you’re meant to react when the critics review something you’ve worked on as “the most dreadful thing to happen to Christmas since King Herod” + “This is the worst film since Cats” / “has as much Yuletide spirit as a dead rat in the eggnog”
Oh well, anyways shout out to the crew!

Loved this bit from the recent Jeff Buckley doc. I wish there was video footage from that meeting between Nusrat-saab & Jeff but this story from Joan Wasser is joyful and heartbreaking at the same time. The image taken by Jack Vartoogian is one of my favourite shots ever taken.

Is it me or is Reuben Amorim begging to be sacked? But that quote made me laugh, cause if you swapped out the word ‘player’ with ‘crew’ you’d think he was talking about the lifecycle of a freelancer working in film & tv

This is how I’d spend all my free time*

This could be a fantastic opportunity for someone from the South Asian community to get their foot in the door. I can’t tell you how rare a shout out like this is. As a group, we’re still woefully underrepresented on set as crew behind the camera. Pass on the word if you can

TV is in trouble | Television has been run by the same demographic for over 70 years. If we want to keep up, we need new people in the room, people who can see the audience in a different way

TV is in trouble - but keeping its promises on diversity can save it

It’s my #NusratFatehAliKhan playlist up on Spotify. Not definitive (Missing the songs off the Dead Man Walking score) but it’s my wish list of tracks I would’ve loved to have experienced live

Hamlet
Riz Ahmed electrifies in director Aneil Karia’s bold, brilliant, and stunning reinvention of Hamlet, set in present-day London’s South Asian community.

What these companies don't get or seem to care about is those of us who are professionals in post-production and rely on tools like WeTransfer to send materials to clients have also signed NDAs that are complete conflict with their new TOS.

Legally we CAN'T use WeTransfer now.

WeTransfer just changed their TOS giving themselves permission to train AI on any content you transfer and produce derivative works based on content you transfer that they are allowed to monetize and you are not allowed payment for.

Stop using WeTransfer.

Love this bit from the #Sinners Making Of
Only have had it happen a couple of times in my career where the director+producer+Asst editor will cut together a sizzle/blooper reel for the crew. It’s the best present a production can give to the crew. Nice to catch a glimpse of all our labour as we wrap

Sometimes in this industry you make honest mistakes with the projects you take on, but if it doesn’t align with my personal beliefs then I’ll respectfully step aside. It does cost you your professional relationships & that’s a bitter pill to swallow.

This is the part of the job I struggle with - securing the next gig but we’ve all gotta do it. Would love to line up the next job sooner rather than later. Open to short/long form projects & would love to connect with new DOP’s as well as reconnect with DOP’s who’ve worked with me in the past.

Another bleak year ahead for freelancers in TV & Film. Unless you’re working on a Marvel/Harry Potter, the prospect of picking up work is dire indeed. Will have to bunker down & see if the phone rings again with a job offer

This time next week I’ll be wrapped & de-rigging. Not that I’m panicking (I AM PANICKING) but any of you lovely folks need a DIT to offload/grade your rushes/make crew badges/wrap posters on long form drama & feature film projects? Please get in touch🙏🏾 #SetLife #FilmJobs

I loved, loved, loved The Ballad Of Wallis Island.
Charming, sweet, achingly beautiful. A cinematic balm to this weary soul.
Congrats to Tom Basden, Tim Key, James Griffiths & Carey Mulligan on making an instant British Classic.
Please please please support this film at your local cinemas.

I’m asking this based on something that happened earlier this week. If you were surrounded by a crew full of excellent Black & Brown crew/Technicians and wanted to capture that moment, would that be offensive to the White crew if they weren’t included in the photo.

Watched #Sinners one last time at the BFI in 70mm IMAX. I may never get to work on an IMAX project or with DOP #AutumnDuraldArkapaw but I can take huge inspiration from what she did with this film. I can only wish & aspire to work on something of this scale with a crew that looks like this.
