If you listen to that song, there are a few few very short rolls on the vocal oooh-ooohs, on no-nos and that stomping chorus.

It's so minimal, and perfect.

Goosebumps!
She was my idol. Sure it was just one hit, but it's a hit One cant forget! There was a reel, showcasing some new British bands, at the local cinema; and many of us were lined up just to see her!

Love this observation
Incidentally, when I was a kid The "Come Right Back" part of Have I the right? with that driving beat was one of the first songs that grabbed my ear.

To this day in my head the song is called Come Right Back. And probably a lot of other peoples heads too.

That beat was the hook.

I love the song "Have I The Right" but had never seen a performance of it so I had no idea that The Honeycombs had *the* foundational Girl Drummer
“I just sat at the drums and said, ‘Can I have a go?’ I just took to it.” — Honey Lantree #BOTD

Lantree, hairdresser turned drummer for the Joe-Meek-produced (boy) band The Honeycombs. A boy band w/a girl drummer is still rare. In the 1960s it was unheard of. A wee thread on this inspiring figure!

There’s a tremendous CD set on Cherry Red that is out of print - I hope it’s because they are redoing it after acquiring Meeks’ tapes

61 years later, it still sounds good to me.
Here they are. it's a banger. The foot stomping. The sexy growl in Denis D'Ells voice. it makes you want to answer his question "have I the right to kiss you?" with a resounding 'WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR." www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZUW...

the woman who posted the Spinout pic said, “The girl drummer in Spinout and Honey Lantree inspired me as a kid to become a drummer.”

Karen Carpenter said when she saw The Honeycombs on The Ed Sullivan Show, it inspired her to become a drummer.

Right before Lantree died at the age of 74, she came up in a discussion on FB. I posted about the BONKERS final moment of the Elvis movie Spinout. Someone in the comments, a woman, posted a picture of Elvis’ “band” in Spinout, all boys, with – a girl drummer. I said, "Hey it's like the Honeycombs!"

Oh my gosh thank you for letting me know! I love this!

Thanks for the perspective!
I’m old enough to remember this coming out. It was also distinctive for the fact that the drums were so dominant in the mix.

It has been wild to see what were always the two most paranoid pro-Second Amendment scenarios—the government snatching people away and sending occupying armies into communities—literally happen this year, to the delight of conservatives
There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

High school reunion this past weekend. Seeing so many people I have known since literally kindergarten in some cases. It was unexpectedly really fun. Keith M referred to me "my wife in first grade." It was better than our last reunion where someone was legit tased for being scarily disorderly.
