Hello everyone!

I’m Shauntelle (they/them) - an actor, writer, and psychologist on unceded Gadigal land (Sydney, Australia). You can find me all over the place, but especially where the TTRPGs are narrative forward, the mechanical metaphor is dense and the drama is dramatic.

See you around!

Long ago on the hell site I made long list of historically interesting things to use in dnd ttrpgs and I'll start dragging them over here starting with

2000 years-old sapphire ring presumably belonged to Roman emperor Caligula, depicting his fourth wife Caesonia.

AO3 authors: If you get a spambot comment on a story, AO3 has a specific reporting path that lets them get rid of your spammer in hours rather than weeks. Turns out that following these steps REALLY WORKS.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Instead of doing a consumerism on "Black" Friday, consider supporting small businesses, dropping a few coins in someone's ko-fi or go fund me, sign up for their patreon instead.

Life is expensive, things are hard. Drop coins to humans, not AI, or big corporations today.

I believe it might be spelled “fryrmblal”, or perhaps “frynmblal”.

Either way, it’s always important to consider the Tol Line Storee we are being fed by people who should know better or step aside if not.

Your environental features don’t matter. The content of your academic work should.
"Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se

A *huge* vaccine victory. I've been writing on this for years; Australia has seen remarkable progress in cervical cancer prevention with the HPV vaccine. I love seeing science triumph like this.
Australia recorded ZERO cases of cervical cancer in women under 25 for the first time since they started tracking the cancer in the 80s.

This is the power of vaccines.

The HPV vaccine is extremely effective at preventing cancer.

Viruses can be oncogenic. Get your vaccines and protect yourself!
newsGP - Australia set for world-first cervical cancer elimination
Vaccination programs have played a key role, and GPs remain ‘instrumental’ in boosting screening rates to reach the 2035 target.

I was talking to my therapist about my disdain for generated art, and to prove a point showed her things I’d drawn 5 years ago and most recently.

I wouldn’t call myself talented. I understand lighting because I’m a theatre creator, but otherwise this is pure practice over time. I’m not special.

Does human twerking communicate something to them? If yes, what are we saying?

I really hate asking this, esp before the holiday, but I’m having an emergency. My filling broke and I have a painful abscess that needs immediate care. I don’t have dental insurance and could really use a hand. I’m so sorry to ask. I can barely eat or sleep. #mutualaid

I was supposed to go to London for work last week but that fell though and now my source of income for this month is now gone as I am currently on a slight furlough until I can get another freelance gig coming my way.

I'm in dire straights and could really use the help.

I’m unsurprised that Trump likes Mamdani - Mamdani says what he means in a way Trump has to respect.

The fact that he looks cute and sweet as pie is the cherry on top, but he must feel a kinship with a man in politics saying what he thinks.

He doesn’t understand principles, but he sees them.

The sharp decline in US teenagers’ aspiration to get married and have kids…

…is happening almost entirely among girls, not boys.

At some point maybe men will start trying harder to understand that.

Folks, it's some nasty air in the #PAXUnplugged vendor hall right now. A number like this tells you that the HVAC system is overwhelmed.

Your risk tolerance is your own business, but you should at least know the level of risk you're dealing with. #PAXU
