Well, last night's lunar eclipse was a no-show in the Cambridgeshire fens, and to be honest, when I looked out tonight I wasn't hopeful. But, wonders will never cease, the Harvest Moon cut through what looked like pretty thick clouds.

Slight reworking of the "multiple exposure" full "Buck" Moon rising behind @elycathedral.bsky.social, last night, 10th July 2025. I prefer the alignment of these shots to the previous one. @weatheraisling.bsky.social @itvanglia.bsky.social @chrispage90.bsky.social #fullmoon #moonrise

Strawberry Moon rising behind Ely Cathedral this evening (10th June 2025). Took some time for it to clear the low cloud/mist layer, had it been clear would have been a stunner … one that got away!

Partial eclipse today, as seen from Cambridgeshire. The high cloud was playing havoc with the focus and exposure, but got a few shots.

December marks the point at which the Sun reaches it most northerly sunrise, which coincides with my favourite viewpoint of dawn behind Ely Cathedral accross the fields. This December has been an almost complete washout for me, so here are a selection of December dawn shots from previous years.

Word of the Day is a true favourite, as some of you will know.

Apricity (17th century) is the warmth of the sun on a winter’s day.

Good morning all.

November has felt pretty grim so far, with only a couple of days when the sun has broken through in Cambridgeshire. Seems like another year will pass without me getting to the Lakes or Scotland. At the time I was taking this shot I was also trying to stem the bleeding from a finger, 12 years ago!

Unbroken clouds over Cambridgeshire are obstructing any chance of capturing the last supermoon of the year. I've searched my archive and see that I've never managed to capture a moon image in November. So here is a more typical November shot, St John's College chapel, from Castle Hill in Cambridge.
