the idea that the real danger to free speech here is that a Christian wasn't allowed to spew hatred without evidence in a psych class seems like a fundamental confusion endemic to a lot of 1st amendment discussions.

This would fail in my class because it doesn’t “meaningfully engage readings.” Protect yourself as much as possible from engaging on politics.
