hi. I do climate comms @evergreenaction.bsky.social, where I do my best to explain why raising your energy bill on purpose is bad politics.

I'm going to use this account more for various climate takes. and laments on how our wannabe fascist dictator is, unfortunately, very funny.

It wasn’t “unrealistic” when the GOP passed another multi-trillion tax cut $$$ for billionaires—triggering the largest spike in utility bills in history & ripping away health care from millions.

Dems are basically offering them an opportunity on a silver platter to clean up the crisis THEY created.

The day after Trump and Republicans shut down the government, the White house gleefully launched another act of clean energy sabotage aimed squarely at states that didn't vote for him.

It was a perfect snapshot of Trump’s governing ethos: political retribution at all costs. 🧵
Trump’s own Energy Secretary admitted the truth: “We’re going to get blamed.”

And he’s right. Trump’s war on clean energy is driving electricity bills up for working families—while padding fossil fuel profits. 🧵

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

🧵Republicans just passed one of the most catastrophic bills in a generation.

It raids trillions from working families and hands the cash to billionaires and Big Oil—while slashing clean energy, food aid, and health care. Here’s what you need to know ⬇️
BREAKING: Big Oil bought politicians in Congress willing to spike your bills, torch your job, and pollute your kids’ lungs to squeeze out a little more profit.

Republicans just cashed the check and sold working-class Americans out to a handful of billionaires.

This is already affecting my husband who works in the solar industry. companies are already afraid of the bill going through so they have canceled deals and some financing companies have also stopped taking solar projects.

🚨Trump's Biggest, Most Beautiful energy price hike is on its way, as Congress works overtime to pass their most shameless grift in history.

But that's just half the story. Since taking office, Trump has launched a full-scale assault on your energy bills.

Let's break it down 🧵

Not one of the 21 House Republicans who were supposedly "outspoken defenders" of clean energy tax credits voted to save them.

Every single one of them made clear that they are really in Congress to hand wealthy people and corporate polluters tax breaks. insideclimatenews.org/news/2205202...

these fucking people, these “outspoken defenders.” months of letters & interviews swearing not to back clean energy cuts. then they vote to repeal them with DEEP CONCERN and run to POLITICO to beg the Senate to fix it.

you had agency. you chose cowardice & billionaire tax cuts.

Before they rammed their “One Big Beautiful” bill through while everyone was asleep, Republicans took a bill that already repealed clean energy tax credits—and somehow made it even worse.

....a grift led by the same Republicans whose own districts are benefiting from the clean energy investments they just voted to kill, no less.
If passed into law, Americans will wake up to find the GOP quietly reached into their wallets and handed their hard-earned cash to corporate polluters and billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

It’s one of the most shameless grifts in modern history.
NEW: This morning, House Republicans passed a budget that would be the largest wealth transfer from working people to billionaires and corporate polluters in modern HISTORY.

Their bill would eliminate more than 1 million clean energy jobs + repeal most clean energy tax credits.
