Staying kind is one of the hardest, bravest, punkest, most anarchic things we can do in this time. Please. Stay kind.

(Note: standing up against injustice is VERY kind.)

Caving on a deal that doesn’t fix health care is, and always has been, a giant betrayal of the American people.

Hold the line. Save health care. I’m a NO on anything that doesn’t extend ACA subsidies.

The hateful Charlie Kirk was shot by the acolyte of a more hateful version of Charlie Kirk.

It wasn’t any of the imaginary bogeymen they were hoping for.

Just a case of them slowly drowning in their own hate.

Trump is piloting a program to let AI review seniors’ medical information and decide what Medicare covers for them — while giving AI companies a profit-incentive to deny coverage. We must call on every Member of Congress to block this. 👇

Starting today, 2.4M Americans, including kids, lose SNAP food benefits. Stores like Freshly’s Market in Mississippi that serve low-income communities expect a 35–45% drop in sales.

Children will go hungry & employees at Freshly's lose jobs.

Welcome to trickle-down starvation.

If you work to earn your money, you are a worker.

Labor Day is your day to celebrate the 40-hour work week, weekends off, and more.

If your income comes from dividends or profits, you are a capitalist.

Labor Day should remind you of the workers who make that possible.

🧵 MtE (Munchkin the Elder, my nephew & my late kid's brother, long story) is planning to move here from Mexico in Oct. His dad passed in Mar. & was his sole source of support. James & I have been doing our best to help him out, short of letting him move in, which I don't feel able/willing to do.

if you work beyond your EXTREMELY SMALL limits with longCovid, you deteriorate. your condition worsens & you become even more disabled. a tightrope i am falling off, slowly losing function daily. he’s killing us.
“The reality is that more and more people are becoming chronically ill through Long Covid and other health conditions that Covid can trigger, many of whom can’t work the required half-time—80 hours per month—and some of whom can’t work at all.”

All while RFK works to strip access to Covid vaccines
It’s up to the discretion of RFK Jr to define what ”medically frail” is when it comes to potential Medicaid work requirement exemptions—which may play a huge role in deciding which chronically ill and disabled people could qualify. My latest for @motherjones.com.

Texas Democrats aren’t running away from anything. They’re fighting, with every tool they have, to save our democracy.

Kudos to each and every one of them for taking this stand. We should be inspired by their courage and reminded that tyranny is only possible if we submit to it.

Millions will lose health care.

Hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost.

Electricity costs will skyrocket.

Needy families will lose access to food.

The GOP’s budget bill does all that so Donald Trump can give hundreds of billions in tax breaks to his rich friends.

Medicaid isn't just a safety net, it's a lifeline for millions of Americans. But Republicans want to cut it off at the knees, leaving families to fend for themselves. We can't let them get away with this cruel and heartless plan.
