Last fall, the First Lego League project was focused on the ocean, so we had a massive number of requests for marine biologists come in to Skype a Scientist. I just got word that this year's theme is archaeology.

Know any archaeologists? tell them we're gonna NEED 'em.

Here's the end-of-workday update, on Day 1 of the United States of Science.

A whopping 57% of the map has been covered in the first 24 hours which is *amazing*. Thank you to everyone who filled bubbles!

The top 5 states are still open: CA, NY, PA, NJ, FL

🗺️Map Update!!🗺️

DANG! This is the best we've ever done on the first day, of the 7 years we've done this ritual. Thank you so much everyone!

There is one, only ONE state, that has zero bubbles filled. Everybody make fun of Delaware.

Alright I have a question for *all of you*, esp for those of you who are not into environment stuff.

When you think about planting native plants in the area you control, what *prevents* you from taking that action? These could be emotional, financial, practical, anything.

RTs appreciated here.

Watching people interact on here, I see how we collectively have ended up in the nightmare we’re in.

We have smart educated people refusing to empathize with people who have less education, time, money, & general resources, expecting them to perform at a high level to move forward/fix problems.

Can someone with access tell me if the use of the word "kept" means that the shots are now *off* the schedule, the change was just delayed? Or whether they're still there?

Spouse made some serious progress cleaning out and planting the garden this weekend. I was no help beyond toddler wrangling. Said toddler did manage to find a snapping turtle! And because we live in CT, the rats with hooves capital, there's a 10 foot fence around all of this.

Two years ago, we planted a native columbine near our rock wall. Last year it didn't come back so we figured it didn't make it. This year it showed us that apparently it was just storing up energy for an extra big show ❤️

Time to throw up a bat signal for a specific skillset for @skypeascientist.bsky.social

We have a classroom that is looking for a scientist who can do a session with them in ASL.

Do we know any scientists who would be willing to do a Q&A with a deaf classroom in ASL?
