Finally watched Ryan Coogler's Sinners. Comparisons with Robert Rodriguez' From Dusk Till Dawn are inevitable, but both are excellent. Sinners is a slow burn for the first hour, setting up characters and situations. Then comes the payoff, and what a payoff it is.

Sigh. Well, this is embarrassing.

Stop making me feel old, dammit!
40 years ago today, the original version of “Take on Me” (1984) from A-ha was released. The Single Version would be released in 1985 and become a worldwide hit. #aha #80s #80smusic

The Chimes was wonderful. I bought this new release as soon as I heard about it. Can’t wait to give it a listen.
Following the critically-acclaimed release of The Chimes, I've produced two more full-cast adaptations of Charles Dickens’ Christmas stories; THE CRICKET ON THE HEARTH & THE HAUNTED MAN.

Extremely proud of this. It will make your Christmas 100% more Christmassy!

Flocks of geese are heading south in droves, now. The last of the autumn leaves are settling down to earth. That can only mean one thing …

The Crow Girl is a six-eplsode series featuring Eve Myles, who we all know and love since she appeared in Torchwood. She and much of the cast give outstanding performances in this dark mystery story. The final episode will leave your head spinning. This is a must-watch.

Halloween’s almost upon us. And here I’d hoped to go through a whole host of horror movies. All I’ve managed this month, sadly, is 28 Years Later (which was very good) and Sleepy Hollow. Onto pumpkin carving tomorrow! And then … the monsters come out.

Some thoughts on the latest in the 28 Days Later series. This one, called 28 Years Later, is a thoughtful, coming of age story disguised as a zombie movie.

This article contains mild spoilers for 28 Years Later. Sometimes, you need to check your expectations at the door before taking your seat in the theatre. I think that’s the case with the lat…

If you don’t read GGK’s books, (a) What’s wrong with you and (b) Time to get started.
And this, for those who want to put a toe in the water with my work, or to add an ebook to their collection. UNDER HEAVEN is much less than a coffee this week in US, at all the usual-suspect ebook retailers.

The Final Destination movies are, for me anyway, a guilty pleasure. Great art? Of course not. But there are always great thrills and chills. Final Destination Bloodlines is a worthy addition to the franchise and manages to very cleverly fit into the timeline of the other movies.

On Writing a Novel
If, like me, you’ve read several books about how to write a novel, you’ll know that there are about as many writing processes as there are writers. In this post, I’ll try to tell you ab…

It's funny. You tell friends that you've written short stories and they're all, Yeah, whatever. But you tell them you've written a novel and their eyes pop. Really, they say. Wow. Novels are my first choice too, but let's rally around the poor, misunderstood short story.

No one tells you that the hardest part of writing a novel is coming up with a half-decent blurb.

I may have said this before, but from my perspective, we are living in the era of Peak Star Trek. Considering the quality of S3 of Star Trek Picard, and pick your season of Star Trek SNW, I think this is self-evident.

Today's the day that The Shattering Peace, the new book in the Old Man's War universe, is out in North America (UK, you have two more days). I wrote it to be enjoyable to new readers as well as old hands to the series. I hope you'll pick it up at your favorite bookseller!

I had to look twice to believe it. This wonderful Star Trek book is on sale for a steal!
For #SapphicSeptember

It’s a tale of star-hopping vigilante justice and the queer coming-of-age story of Seven of Nine, on her path to joining the Fenris Rangers.

All eBook versions of STAR TREK: PICARD – FIREWALL are on sale this month for just $1.99!

Would anyone be interested in beta-reading my upcoming novel? It's a thriller, so if you enjoy that genre you'll hopefully enjoy this. It's about 63K words or 260 pages. I'd be happy to return the favour in the future. Thanks.

I am really, really sad that Ken Dryden has passed away. An icon of Canadian hockey.
