Our paint style this week:
Using a split cup!
The split cup gives you fine, feather-like edges to your shapes, with very little color blending. Colors are kept separated in the cup chambers until they hit the canvas.

This past week, our classes created "smashed Elves" paintings, with puddles of color and spatulas.
Whack!
Then, we added elves and fairies where the splatters told us to.
Most students' paintings come out pretty, these released some holiday frustrations.

Bringing it to 🦋 by request:

People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.

I keep reading that this is a place for kinder people, but gentle souls have always been among us. We just couldn’t hear them anymore. Perhaps our gathering here is proof that we missed those voices. What a wonderful thing to believe about ourselves. It can be a bold move to choose kindness.
