Finally got off my butt and decided to change/consolidate banks, which I've been meaning to do for years. I knew it would be a bit of a pain but I underestimated how much work it would be. My to-do list to get everything moved over is up to 40 items…

I'm getting tired of rain. Official request to @nashseverewx.com to please turn the water off.

This is such a miserable process. I started it almost 12 hours ago.

Sometimes it blows my mind to recall that there was a time that I made my way through the world without instant access to constantly-updating turn-by-turn directions…

It's been a while since something so trivial has annoyed me as much as the insistence that any use of an em dash is a sure sign of AI. Next we're going to claim that writing in complete sentences or spelling correctly means you must have used AI. How low our standards for writing have become…

I've had to reauthenticate to Bluesky in Safari 8 times in the last week 🤬

It's kind of amazing the industry that has popped up around "link in bio" just because Instagram is so restrictive about links. They truly have created the worst of both worlds; people still link to outside stuff, but the UX friction is awful.

You'd think that as online shopping grew, apparel brands would have had strong incentives to make their sizing more predictable and consistent. After all, incorrect sizing is a big driver of returns, and returns kill margin. And yet, it seems to keep getting worse.

Ah yes, this year's shade of grey.

My cat apparently now understands what the tornado warning sound from my phone means. When the last one happened, he started heading toward the basement on his own.

Definitely hitting tornado warning fatigue here...

This long string of red boxes is not a recipe for any sleep at all tonight....

There goes my attempt at sleep. Stay safe, friends.

I'm retired from griping about travel on social media but I have to temporarily come out of retirement to say: how is the Miami airport so bad???
April 2, 2025 at 7:10 PM
@nashseverewx.com Downtown Franklin just now. Heavy precipitation but the hail is small. #tspotter

Some day, I hope we get a case study on how the FedEx website got so bad and stayed that way for so long.

Not a quote I like hearing from a weather veteran like David, but I'm glad they're giving it to us straight.

This is a niche gripe, but it is so dastardly for the owner of HiFiEngine / VinylEngine to spend years getting people to upload vintage audio equipment manuals, and then put them all behind a login gate, turn off signups, and start disabling accounts. Basically stealing community contributions.

Why is AXS so bad? We thought Ticketmaster was terrible, but AXS has taken it to a new level.

I'm fed up with Monarch Money, so I am seeking recommendations for alternatives. I only care about ONE THING: being able to automatically pull in transactions and categorize them so I can look at per-category spend rollups once a quarter or so. I do not care about budgeting or anything else.

For all the complaints I can make about Apple software, I really appreciate that it at least always gives informative and actionable error messages.

I used to joke that the internet was a mistake.

But now I actually believe it.

Update: he now has his own dedicated water glass on my side table. I give him a fresh one every evening after dinner.
It's ok. I wasn't going to drink that anyway.

Are profiles like this against the rules? If we report them, will they get taken down? It seems clearly to be automated and/or spammy. The photos are of a celebrity and the content is somewhat nonsensical. But it's not literal impersonation because it's not using the celebrity's name...

Retired my U-Turn Orbit and replaced it with a table older than I am. It's more in line with the Sansui amp it's hooked up to, so this feels like the right move. It has some cosmetic imperfections, but don't we all when we get to this age?
